From Sea Island to South Africa, the NEW Titleist TSi drivers were played to win for the first time on both the PGA and European Tours this weekend. Not only were the TSi drivers validated on the course and the leaderboard, they were the choice of more players on both tours as well.

TSi Validation on the PGA Tour

Robert Streb (NEW TSi2/10.0°) won his second career PGA TOUR title at the RSM Classic, both coming at Sea Island.

  • Streb was introduced to the NEW TSi2 (10.0°) driver on the practice tee at the Safeway Open in Napa by Titleist Tour Representative Jim Curran, and ultimately replaced his TS2 (10.5°) the first week it was available to PGA Tour players.
  • “After hitting five balls with it, he said ‘this is awesome,’ and took it out for a practice round,” Curran said. “He reported back and said it was going right in the bag.”
  • Streb returned to his previous TS2 for two events before returning to the new driver at the Bermuda Championship, his last event before the RSM Classic, where he finished T55.
  • In addition to Streb’s success with the TSi2, there were three TSi3 driver players who finished among the Top 10 and ties at the RSM Classic, including Bernd Wiesberger (T4), Kyle Stanley (T6) and Patton Kizzire (T10).
  • With 48 Titleist drivers in play, the breakdown included 41 New TSi (29 TSi3, 11 TSi2, 1 TSi4) models, more than all the other model totals combined of any other brand (34).
  • There were a total of eight (8) non-agreement players making a Titleist TSi as their driver of choice.

TSi Validation on the European Tour

On the European Tour, Joachim B. Hansen finished T7 among a world-class field the first week he put it in play at the BMW Championship at Wentworth after being fit by Titleist Tour Representative Liam McDougall.

  • Hansen opts for the NEW TSi3 (10.0°) driver with an Atmos Tour Blue 6 X shaft. According to McDougall, “JB has seen some vast benefits since moving to New TSi driver. The two biggest points JB made to me were about the improved stability and the feel the new face gave him. When he tested with us, he experienced how the ball speed stayed high across a vast area of the face. He gained confidence after seeing and feeling the enhanced performance benefits he was getting with the new driver.”
  • While Hansen advanced 59 spots to No. 43 in the Race to Dubai standings following the win, Nos. 1 and 2 each play a New TSi driver without an agreement.
  • Titleist won the driver count at the Joburg Open with 45 in play, including 38 TSi models. The TSi3 was the overwhelming most played individual model with 30, compared to 19 for the next closest driver model.

PGA

It was an all-Pro V1 golf ball playoff at the RSM Classic where Robert Streb won for the second time on the PGA Tour; his previous title also coming in a playoff at Sea Island six years ago.

  • Streb, trusting Titleist equipment tee-through-green, got up and down by converting an 8-foot par putt to stay alive on the first extra hole, and ended it on the second with a 158-yard pitching wedge that came within inches from going in. The tap-in birdie gave him the win over Kevin Kisner.
  • Both players finished regulation at 19-under 263, one shot ahead of Cameron Tringale, who fired a final round 8-under 62 playing the NEW Pro V1.
  • Kisner rallied from five shots back by closing with a 7-under 63. He also won the first of his three PGA Tour titles at Sea Island in 2015.
  • Streb achieved the victory by averaging 282 yards off the tee, while hitting 83.33% of the Greens in Regulation (60 of 72/T7). He also ranked 5th in Scrambling (83.33%) and 11th in Putts per Greens in Regulation (1.683).

Continued Equipment Dominance
