Thank you all for your suggestions. Since I am a Golf Pride fan I will go with the MCC +4 and suggested. Thanks again.

You won't be disappointed with the mcc+4. They are great grips.

Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2G. However, it is tough to say what would work well for someone else. I think that grips, like shoes, are such a fit and feel thing and it all depends on the individual.

I was in my favorite golf shop on Friday testing putters. Was talking with one of the guys in their repair shop and we were talking about grips. I was asking what brand was their best selling and he said GolfPride, hands down. He said for performance and dependability, they are the best. Also ask which were the worst and he said Winn. He said we carry them, but not recommend them. They just do not last, but some folks do like them. They do a great repair business in our area and have a great reputation for fittings and lessons. David Ayres Lowcountry Golf is noted for their fittings. David has over 35 years experience in repair and is a certified Titleist fitter. He has four fitting bays in his shop and has five pros working for him. A real first class operation and a waiting list to get a fitting.

Golf Pride Z-grips are what I have and love them! Learning how to install the grips myself has saved money and allowed me to try a few different grips until I found the Z-grips

I use the Golf Pride MCC 4 Plus - Standard
I used to use Lampkin Crossline Mid size & they feel like the Tour Velvet Grips.

But once I got my hands on the MCC 4 Plus I was hooked. Gives me a great tapered grip that makes my right hand not grip the club tight & the left hand feels just like a mid grip. I do like the rubber on the bottom & core fabric on the top it's a wonderful feel. Plus they last if you clean them. I use a 400 grit scotch bright pad and warm water and they feel great afterwards.

  8. Hi Golfnut4,

I have just recently switched grips myself. I am currently using the Golf Pride Tour Velvet Align Standard size grips. Previously, I was using Golf Pride CP2 Pro (non-wrap version) Standard size. The reason for my switch was I found the butt end of the club was feeling a tad bit to large.

I read some reviews about the Align grips and thought I would try them. I found them to be very subltle when swinging but noticeable when placing your grip on the club. I have found the butt end fits my hand better and the grips are firmer than the CP2’s but not hard or harsh.

Like some of the other replys stated, you could try having a couple of clubs re-gripped with a couple of options to try out.

Good luck in your grip hunt!

I changed mine at the start of the season to Golf Pride CP2 Pro midsize red Grips with 4 layers of tape.
Can’t fault them and they have been fantastic in all weathers. ️‍♂️

Another Tour Velvet user whose AP2s needs new grips. Have some new grips on order but they’ll be coming with my new T100-S irons!

MCC 4 on everything except putter and driver.. On my driver I have the new Golf Pride CPX (Grey and Blue). It's soft and the feel is outstanding. Like frogs feet on a leaf... no slip...
  13. I've been a fan of the Winn Dri Tac grips but being in Texas it's hot and humid and these just seem to stay tackier for me.

The Dri Tac 2 are (or at least seem to be) more durable.

Golf pride align for me, quality grip!
  15. I use the MCC plus 4 also, in standard size. Awesome grip that has great traction but not rough on the hands. Also, they keep me from gripping to tight so I have less hooks now!!

For me, it has always been some type of cord grip as I prefer that feel to either rubber-based or Winn style grips. They will last a bit longer than rubber grips and definitely longer than Winn style (includes some of the SuperStrokes). I've also always prefer 'ribbed' grips, so the GP MCC Align grips were an easy choice to change from Tour Velvet BCT ribbed. I also tried (and liked) the png ID8 (I think that is the older grip model) and used the aqua (undersize) grips for a while. Oh, and I also discovered that GP MCC grips don't like being washed with hot water! That just made them harder and slicker.

Whatever you use, don't leave the clubs in the trunk of the car as the summer heat will dry them out quickly!

One to look for that I found helpful was the new Gilf Price red bar alignment grips. Love them and helped out quite a bit.

I am a die hard for full cord grips. I am currently using the Lamkin Player's Full Cord and they give a great feel at impact and last forever. They are a bit hard to find but worth looking around for.

Based on an online article by GolfSpan:

"Golf Pride grips have been around golf for decades and like golf clubs, the competition to have the leading players on the tour use them, is as intense. The Tour Velvet grip is the leader in terms of player preference, and the latest offering is outstanding.

Stretching back over the last two decades, it has been “tweaked” based on the input from the Pros, to enable them to customize their performance throughout their equipment.

It is the most classic design in the industry! A combination of rubber-blend compound, with a computer-designed, non-slip surface pattern, that maximizes comfort and playability.

Golf Pride has additional models such as the MCC Plus4, Tour Wrap 2G, and the MCC New Decade, to mention a few. For the Pros cost is not an issue, but for the amateur playing golf on a limited budget, there is a grip available to suit both performance and budget."

I play them because I like the way they perform and they are more durable than all the other brands.

  20. Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2 G... keep coming back to these. love the feel, tackiness, durability and price. Only down side is in wet weather they loose their tackiness.

I’ve played GolfPride Tour Velvet with 2 wraps for as long as I can remember. New clubs got white flat caps from top to bottom other than the hybrid. Figured since I got fitted into the ATMOS HB TS Blue I’d go all out and find a blue grip for it. First thought was MCC but wanted it all blue. Found the Pure Pro in a great bright blue. A little worried about the durability but feels good, gonna be interesting to see what it’s like once I have it in play.
