I think shorts for pro-ams and practice rounds should be allowed. Keep pants for tournament play.

I like that can during charity event and practice rounds...put pants during the events. Caddies should always be allowed.

I think that shorts would be ok for practice rounds/pro-ams etc. but tournament rounds pants should be worn. I think it just looks good.

It makes no matter to me what they wear. If they are more comfortable is shorts let them play. I have found with the improvements in fabric (lightweight moisture wicking) types that some of the FootJoy, Addidas, Under Armour slacks I have are as breathable and comfortable as shorts.

I am absolutely fine with them wearing shorts too. Honestly many of them probably do not want to show their chicken legs, but depending on the tournament.
I would say no on the majors, everything else, whatever is comfortable it is okay with me.

    No vote for me.

The only man to have worn shorts during a PGA Tour sanctioned tournament, and he did it at the US Open! In a mild form of protest Forrest Fezler ducked into a porta potty on the 72nd hole of the ‘83 US Open at Oakmont & changed into shorts to play up the 18th. @USGA #GolfHistory

Memphis is brutal. That said, I would completely understand if the pros wanted shorts there. I personally wear pants only when it cold. Otherwise it is shorts exclusively.

I agree with the "Professional Look". It's not just tour players, any PGA member is supposed to always be in long pants when playing or working at the course or doing anything representing himself as a PGA member. I remember a lot of hub bub a few years back when some Tour players were qualifying for a USGA event and the USGA allowed the wearing of shorts, and they wore shorts. Made the sports reports on virtually every station across the Country.

They're adults (well most of them are), let them where what they like as long as it conforms to the rules of the course they're playing. If the ladies can wear shorts, why not the men?

I would say yes, depending on the weather. I love that the PGA tour is allowing players to wear shorts during practice rounds. There could be a local rule in place, where say if the heat index is over 90*, high humidity, then yes definitely allow players to wear shorts. At least give them the option. You need some common sense here. Playing in extreme heat can have some serious negative consequences on a players health. Their overall well being and health (physically and mentally) should be the number 1 priority, not “tradition”.
