So my girlfriend and I went back to Vail, Colorado for our summer vacation in June, only this year I got to play the Fazio Course @ Red Sky Ranch while I was there. I was planning to propose to her during my trip, but the plan was to do so on our hike up Vail Mountain. The night before we left I decided to do it on the golf course instead because of the amazing views out there. She has been learning to play and took her putter with us, so my plan was to have her putt on some of the holes with me since it was her first time on a real course. The plan was to write 'Will You Marry Me' on the ball she was using and have her retrieve it from the hole and BAM! Well, as it turned out, she just so happy caddying and taking pictures that that idea went out the window. So now I had to find a nice serene and secluded moment to pop the question. So I'm waiting on the 16th tee box and feel that this is the place. (see attached picture). So I drop my club and start walking to the cart to grab the ball and the ring and she tells me the fairway is cleared now, so that plan is now out. I play 16 and move on to the 17th tee box. The 17th is a 151 yd par 3 down hill about 50 feet or so, so I smooth my CB 716 PW to about 4 yards past the hole and just watch it suck back to the pin and then disappear into the cup! I literally roll over on my back like a turtle only to find out my girlfriend was on the teebox above me filming with her phone the whole time. After jumping and hollering for a bit, the tears came. She thought I was happy about my hole-in-one and had no idea what was about to happen. After taking a shameless selfie video on the way to the cup, I asked her to give me a moment and just sat on the edge of the green and soaked it all in. I looked up to the sky and thanked the Big Guy for what had just transpired and then walked back to the cart, pulled out the ball I had written my proposal on, handed it to her, showed her the ring, and then waited....... .......Thankfully she said YES! LOL It was easily the most amazing and surreal day of my life. So there you have it. My first Ace and she said YES! What really makes this so incomprehensible to me is that I told both my father and her mother that, knowing my luck, I would hit my first hole-in-one while she was with me. True story.
