Braggin Rights!

My dad, brother and I are avid golfers. Between the three of us there is over 100 years of golf played. We are all roughly 7 or 8 handicaps. We are extremely competitive and have made a traveling trophy that we carry with us with the same pride as you may see from a prize fighter and a championship belt. On this day, I held the trophy and was tied with my dad going into hole #16. It was 170 yard par 3 with an elevated green. We all hit shots on the green and got in our carts to see who was in the best position. I was hitting a Titleist ProV1* #3 with remnants of tree sap from an errant shot on the previous hole. We found everyone else's ball safely on the green but no sign of mine. Until someone muttered the all too familiar phrase, "check the cup." I've played this game for 27 years and heard this phrase hundreds of times to the point that I feel the effort to check isn't even worth it. But because our score was tied I moped over to the cup and looked down and saw my Titleist ProV1* staring up at me with its unique sappy smile. High fives and chest bumps were had by all. It sealed my victory and retention of the trophy and gave me bragging rights as the only person in our family to hit a hole in one!
