It'll be interesting to see if it's adoption is effected by the current situation. As it was, as far as I understood things, in the UK were were due to switch to the WGH system at the end of this now current season.

From what info is out there, I understand that your WGH handicap index (effective Nov 2020) will be based on a rolling best 8 scores from your last 20. These will be scores submitted as counting for handicap (comps, supplementary cards etc) but what I'm not sure on is whether that is counting scores only within the current season i.e. is it sensitive to the age of scores as it is meant to be a closer reflection of current ability. So if we end up "locked in" all Summer and no/little golf is played, what is the impact?

I'm sure we'll hear more as the season progresses and hopefully we'll all get back out there soon.

Thought there was a course grading element as well....
I regularly play with a mate who's a member at a long, resort course.
As a consequence, his H/cap is higher than its would be on a more normal, shorter, "Members club" course and as a further consequence, he regularly sweeps the pot!
I thought the seeding element was supposed to level off this anomaly... but that may be wishful thinking on my part!

I’ve not long joined a new course and not put any cards in, and I think your right with the course grading as my old course was getting a higher grading (tougher) than my new course.....hopefully we all get out soon there’s only so many putts I can do in the house and I keep getting moaned at for chipping into the cats bed lol.

It all seems to be a bit up in the air at the minute.
I know Tulliallan went from par 69 to par 70 with the new course / slope / handicap system.
I don’t think it’s going to come into effect this year, but you never know. ️‍♂️️

From what I have heard:
- It is definitely going ahead as planned this year.
- Up to clubs may have to allow competitions with partially developed in 2021 to allow more to attain a fully developed handicap.
- Date of 20 handicaps counting changing from 1 January 2019 to 2018. Can't evidence this yet but that is string rumour. This means all scores from 2018 and 2019 count, as well as first 10 months of 2020.
- You can check your course slope rating already on the USGA site. It hasn't been advertised, and assessments still ongoing; and courses making changes to affect ratings. So treat as an early indication.

You may be able to ask your handicap secretary to see how many counting scores you have.

I think the indicative handicap will be sent soon too.
