Just got back from the Outer Banks on a family vacation. My wife has family in NC, and we all rented a beach house for a week. I had the chance to play Nags Head Golf Links on Tuesday and Thursday of last week.Great course, wonderful staff! I shot 81 on Tuesday in relatively calm conditions. The wind was a constant 10-15mph. Not the case on Thursday;91 in 25-30 mph sustained winds with gusts higher than that.18 is a very narrow par5, with the ocean on the right hand side.I started the ball 20-25 yards out over the ocean, and watched the wind bring it back to the LEFT side of the fairway. In 50 years of playing I can't recall playing in wind that severe, or losing that many balls (5)!! I also don't remember the last time I was over 90.Treacherous conditions that day.

No wonder the bar was full!

It is a nice course and like the links courses across the pond, wind is the defense against scoring. If you had a relatively calm day one out of two rounds you were quite lucky. We live in the mountains of Western NC and vacation in the OBX. If you get back there The Carolina Club in Grandy is a nice course and much more user friendly on those days when the wind is really blowing.
