  1. I was perusing the list of players that use Titleist equipment on the site (www.titleist.com/.../players) and noticed Scottie Scheffler wasn't listed anymore as a Pro V1 ball player. Is he no longer on contract with Titleist or is it a database issue? Curious if anyone else noticed this too.

You are right. Scottie plays a variety of brands, including Vokey Wedges and Prov1 balls. Good question.

Here is a list of all the golf equipment Scottie Scheffler used to win The Players Championship 2024, on Sunday.

Driver - TM Qi10 (8 degrees), with Fujikura Ventus Black 7X shaft
Fairway Wood - TM Qi10 (15 degrees), with Fujikura Ventus Black 8X shaft
Irons - srxn ZU85 (3-4), with Nippon Pro Modus3 Hybrid Tour X shaft, TM P-7TW (5-PW), with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts
"Wedges" - Titleist Vokey Design SM8 (50, 56, 60 degrees), with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts
Putter - TM Spider Tour X L-Neck prototype
    "Ball" - Titleist Pro V1

Under Golf Digest's "Clubs that Scottie Scheffler used to win The Players", they have Scheffler using the Pro V1 ball and Vokey Wedges.

He was taken off the page a while ago. I noticed that at the Players he is still using a Pro V1.

According to Golf Digest's "What's in the Winners Bag", Scheffler plays the Pro V1 ball and Vokey Wedges.

Unlike when Tiger got his millions on contract, gear contracts can be too restrictive and not offer enough value. The players usually have to do publicity appearances. Whatever Scottie was getting for the ball wasn’t worth it when he can still get the ball free. After the last 2 tournaments, he sure doesn’t need the money. Or even free balls…. There are more free agents with golf gear now than there used to be. 14 club contracts including hats and bags are getting to be dinosaurs.

Correct, if a player is not under contract they will not be listed. That said, more professionals play Titleist balls outside of a contract than any other ball. Almost everyone you see playing other brands are doing it under contract from that company. Same goes for other clubs, especially the Vokey wedges and Scotty putters.
  10. He's a Taylor Made staffer, but his contract allows him to play whatever ball (and wedges and putter) he chooses, and he's a Pro V1 player. Titleist just made a press release about him a few weeks ago after he won the Players.

Good stuff. Curious minds want to know...
  12. Cant beat the ProV1! Its nice to see more modern players using whats best for their game, and not what may pay them more via sponsorships. Scottie chooses to play ProV1 since its best for his game, where TM has probably offered him money to use their ball, since he uses alot of their clubs. (same with wedges, and he has bounced around with putters)
The better they play should make them more money anyways....
