After a terrible round on Sunday I was apprehensive about playing our Wednesday 9 hole stableford which I regularly play in.

I decided to play, not having the greatest start on the 1st hole. I was worried it would be another difficult round.

But stepping up on the 2nd tee box watching the other lads taking their shots it was then my turn, choosing to use my pitching wedge for the short par 3, 128 yards to the flag which was around the centre of the green which slopes sharply from right to left, with a tree on the right side of the green and high banking making most shots rush down the green and off the other side on the left.

I struck my pitching wedge well and landed it 2 yards short of the pin, slowly seeing it trickle toward the hole not quite expecting the ball to actually drop. It arched round right to left and suddenly dropped down to erupting cheers from the four ball I was with.

My next tee shot then smashed further than ever before too with the excitement.

I went on to shot my 2nd best round with no blowouts and my most consistent round to date.
