A group of 12 of us were on a golf trip to Orlando, and on the first day I did the unthinkable. Sitting 165 out, I step up to hit my shot first as my other buddies discussed possible outcomes for the match, and I pure a PW. It baby fades right at the hole as I see it bounce once and disappear.
It was late afternoon so the shadows on the green were deceptive, and we didn’t know if it was behind a ridge or not. My one buddy who saw me hit the shot eagerly suggested to run up and see if it went in. Being a skeptic, I was reluctant and wanted my buddies to hit their shots as well.
As the last shot in the group is stuck to about 4 feet, we drive as fast as we can up to the green; range finder in hand. I mentioned to my buddy in the cart that I hope we just see two balls on the green - bringing expectations back to reality. Thankfully, I didn’t get what I was wishing for, as I sprinted up to my AVX nestled in the hole.
After a minute of celebrating like we won the Ryder Cup, a buddy pointed out the divot two feet directly behind the cup. Got a little English to add to the excitement!
All in all, awesome experience to hit my first hole-in-one on a guys golf trip, but boy was it an expensive one.. always questioned that rule..
