Ace in Arizona

  1. On December 7, while visiting Gilbert, Arizona, I made the first hole-in-one of my golf career at the signature 17th hole at Seville Golf & Country Club—an island green playing 122 yards. Late in the day, with the sun beginning to set, I pulled a 9-iron and teed up a Titleist AVX. I was playing with my good friend Todd Goldberg and two of his friends, and earlier in the round someone had asked me how many aces I’d made in my life. My answer was simple: “Zero.”

With the sun dropping low, it was hard to see exactly where the ball finished. It looked good, but none of us were sure until we got up to the green—where we found my AVX sitting at the bottom of the cup. Excitement erupted instantly. It was a surreal, unforgettable moment on one of Seville’s most iconic holes, and the perfect way to cap off a memorable day in Arizona.
