I went out to have a good time with the Thursday night gang at Prestwick. I wasn't having my best round by any means. It seemed as if I was second guessing myself all day from club selection, putting reads, putting speed,... you name it. We get to the 9th tee box. Last hole of the night. I am fourth in the order. The distance was 156 yards with a tough tough pin tucked in the back right corner. I grabbed my 8 iron and make my way to the tee box. First guy, a scratch golfer, hits a beautiful shot that goes just to the backside of the green. And there it was again. All up in my head as I had been the entire round second guessing my club selection off his shot. I cleared my head waiting for the other two to hit. "Just hit the shot you pictured. Right of the flag and let it bleed left down to the hole." I teed it up, lined up my shot, and let'er rip. Whack! Finally! Out of my head and pured it! My ProV is on a beautiful flight right where I wanted it. I hear Jeff behind me, "Free drinks!" The ball hits with a little backspin to the left heading down hill to the hole. Shaggy yells out, "It's going in! Get in the hole!" That 8 foot role felt like it was in slow motion and then all of a sudden the ball disappears! 33 years of playing the game of golf and it finally happens. My first hole-in-one.
