  1. Play a part three today. Pretty cold, but wasn’t too bad in the sun. I found that my game is better and cooler weather for obvious reasons. Curious how many players prefer cold over hot weather.

I always prefer hot over cold. It's one of the reasons I have retired to Arizona. That said, I do feel the need every winter to take by base layers and rain gear to Bandon for the Scottish links type experience. I definitely do not play better all bundled up, but I do have a fun week.

Depends on what you call cooler weather. When that temperature gets below 40 and the wind kicks in really works on my back. Really enjoy throwing on a pair of shorts and a lightweight pullover when the temps are in the low seventies and at 77 my body responds better. I live in the Charleston, SC area and we do like it warm. We normally play every M/W/F year round, but we do have some cold weather down here. Just cannot figure why the tourists flock to this area when the heat index (temperature and humidity) reaches 110. We play in the early morning. 90 percent humidity is not much fun in the afternoons along the coast of SC, June, July, August.

Will be playing here on Long Island this weekend. Low in the AM around 25-30 up to the low 40's. Will have thermals on. With sun out not toooo cold!

Will play in pretty much any conditions short of a downpour or a blizzard but prefer it to be warmer to get the most enjoyment. That said, I'm not against an afternoon round in the middle of the summer. I don't know why but I kind of enjoy it. I guess the less layers of clothes the better.

Cold being relative. The ground here has now frozen so if a course is open, the play is dramatically altered. Bright spot? The water hazards play like asphalt parking lots.

I prefer 45-85 F - but 85-100 is tolerable. Late March can’t get here fast enough.

Don all of our courses closed around Thanksgiving this year. You still have some that are open? I'd make the trip up to Madison! I'd take 95° over -5° (current temp in Iowa) any day. Fall golf is nice though - 55-60 is just about perfect. Just hate all those leaves.

Ill take 105 any day over 50's... Keeps warm is a pain in rear end. All you need in head is water and sunscreen!
  9. I will play in anything from 40-100. Fall golf was something I grew up with, especially playing in high school as that was when our season was. It wasn't unusual to have district qualifying played in flurries. Love the heat though, doesn't seem to bother me and much easier to get these 64-year-old muscles loose.

Nope. The hotter the better for me. Anything below 50 is a big question and depends on where I'm playing...is it worth it

Personally I am not a fan, Where I am from we are lucky to get 4-5 months of golf weather before before the snow. So I take advantage of the warm days

I think warmer weather is better all around for a few reasons. Being warm the body doesn't require as much time to warm up. Staying loose is key. While it is fun to bundle up in all the cold weather gear nothing beets a nice cold bear after a hot round.

Watch out for those cold bears. They could be dangerous. ha..ha..ha..ha..
  14. 40’s, weekdays, very little wind, sunshine, few golfers, 3 hour rounds… a nice day!

The proof is in the pudding as they say. The weather has been rather cold in Charleston lately and my scores have soared. With the cold mornings my back just cannot get relaxed and well I am just all over the place with my irons. Last Monday, I shot a 104 and my back was wrenched out. Set out the rest of the week due the mornings just to cold, course cart path only, and I cannot do that trek in muck and in the high thirties and low 40s. . Yesterday was a beautiful day, while most of the country was getting snow, the low was in the high 40's and actually went up to 66 and my game was much improved. Actually shot in the high 80s for the first time since October. So guess my old body prefers the warmer days. Guess I will just have to pick and choose until warmer days are here. Crazy weather this year. At least none of the white stuff down here. Hope I did not speak too soon.

I am definitely a warm to hot weather player, as you age you will find it is easier to get loose and stay loose in hot weather. My best scoring/golfing occurs as the temperature gauge moves toward 90 degrees for me. My AVX also seems to fly further in warmer weather.

Im based in Colorado so Cold golf is about half of the year. Thankfully the snow melts fast so I'll be playing this coming week. I find that when its colder weather I tend to play better but not because of the weather itself. I warm up a lot more and try not to kill the ball on every swing like i do in the summer. So In reality its just smarter golf. I think winter golf also makes a golfer more conscious of there distances and conservative.
Out here the ball just rolls and rolls once its on the green.

I'm the first to admit - I am not a cold weather golfer. After putting so much on, e.g, U/A heat gear, golf shirt, sweater and outer layer, I feel (and look), like the Michelin man. I have enough challenges w/ my swing and w/ so much on, it affects my swing.

I got to get out and play yesterday. Finally had a day off that it wasn't raining and the course was dry enough. It was high 40's. Cool north wind. Needed my FJ winter golf gloves for the front but warmed up by the back. Great to be out golfing in February in Ohio.
  22. I can't even imagine how one can play golf in cold weather. Constant thoughts about finishing quickly and getting back to a warm place.

Lined sweaters help some, so do those little hand warmer packs you get in sporting goods departments. Bundle/layer up with midlayer/outwear from FootJoy and Titleist beanie caps. Found that cold and windy days do not agree with my lower back issues. They seem to tighten up, no matter how much I exercise before I come to the course or warm up when I get there.
  24. I mean yes, it is cold. However, with cart covers/ heaters, and dressing for the occasion help. Plus you get hot as you play from all the moving. In the winter 40’s and up feel great to play a round of golf haha
  25. Low 40s, Sun, slight winds are excellent golf days especially if you walk. The Titleist cart mits are the best. Easy to slide on and off quickly and keep hands very warm between shots. I have even used them when going to cold sporting events like Bears games in December in Chicago. They work well.
