I was playing Contra Costa CC with three good friends, Chip, Angel and John. We got to the 12th hole, a 170 yard par 3, slightly uphill. The pin was middle-left. Chip went first and pulled his 4 iron left. John hit a 5 iron just a tad through the green, but on line. Angel went third and tried to muscle a 7 iron, but came up short. I decided on hitting my AP -2 6 iron. As soon as it came off the club, I said "get in the hole" because that is what golfers often do, knowing the inherent irony that the ball never goes in. My ProV1 never left its initial straight line just left of the pin, hit and slowly rolled right and we all thought it disappeared, but we in disbelief. That just doesn't happen. I thought to myself..self, that one felt really good, but it must be hidden behind the pin or there is a slight green undulation that we cannot see. As we approached the green, I saw Chip's ball left, John's ball long and Angel's ball short. Then and only then did I think I actually made it. Then as I walked up to the hole, there is was at the bottom of the cup. I had made my first hole-in-one after playing golf for almost 40 years! I immediately texted my wife and great friend "Fox" (the Big German in Philly), and could not wait to get in the clubhouse and gladly buy drinks for anyone and everyone who wanted one. Seems almost fitting that the day the UK voted for Brexit and getting OUT of the EU, I put my golf ball IN the hole for an ace! YES SIR!
