Winter Solstice Ace

It was a beautiful day for the Winter Solstice in central Texas this December 21, 2017. A high near 80 °F with gusty winds. My playing partner and I were playing the Cowan Creek golf course. The second hole was playing about 135 yards from the green tee and the flag was on the left back of the green. I hit an 8 iron and the ball was flying a little left of the flag and landed about 15 feet short left of the hole. The ball kept rolling and I was jokingly saying “keep going, keep going”. However, when the ball started rolling to the right, we just looked, still never expecting the ball to get near hole. Finally the ball disappeared and my playing partner said “Garry, that ball just disappeared, I don’t see it anymore.” We got to the green and both walked up to the hole and there in the bottom of the cup was my Titleist DT Trusoft ball with my mark. This was my first Ace. The Winter Solstice will always be a memorable day now.
