Walked Away
By Shawn W On 15 September 2017
I hit a 9 iron over a very deep bunker as the flag was tucked nicely behind the trap. I would typically use a wedge however the flag was blue and I couldn't see the hole. I hit what appeared to be the perfect shot however it started fading to the left of the flag. as I saw it wasn't going to land in front of the flag I walked away from the tee box. Mike yelled, I saw the flag shake! He often see's more than he should some times (at least when it comes to golf). Mike hit his shot and wouldn't you know it he went straight for the stick too. We couldn't see where he landed as well. Mike, Josh and I made our way to the green and as we were approaching the carpet, I saw the safe ball Josh hit in the center of the green. The closer I got I only saw one other ball on the green but I did see a trench 4 inches next to the left of the cup. I looked in the bunker and saw another ball however we had only hit three because earlier our fourth, Veronica, decided work was more important than golf and abandoned us for the office. As I checked the ball barley on the green it was not mine. After further investigation, the ball in the trap didn't belong to any of us! My ball must have skirted off the rear drop off behind the green. As I walked to recover my good shot gone bad, I passed the hole and just had to look. It was sitting with my company logo staring at me in the hole! As I let out an explosive YES, my once good friend Josh, tackled me. To make things better, the ranger saw it all from another view point. We fixed the green and headed to the club house for a round of beverages!
