Unforgettable Father/Son Moment
By John P On 4 December 2017
Playing with my oldest son Mike on the day after Thanksgiving in Ohio is usually a crapshoot because of weather. Well, this year it was in the high 40's, but fairly windy, we decided to play instead of sitting around and eating more leftovers. I had a rain check to use at Sable Creek Golf Course, so we headed out there and teed off the Black nine. Play was very slow and since there were 3 nines on the course we decided to jump to a different nine. The Maroon nine was wide open so we started playing that side at the 4th hole. When we got to the Par 3 seventh hole, there were no yardage markers on the course and we did not have any devices with us, so my son Mike just decided to hit an 8 iron. As soon as it got airborne, he yelled the normal "get in the hole" slogan that you hear constantly on television. Well, this one did "get in the hole", on the fly. We looked at each other and said, "did that go in" and soon realized that the "tink" sound we heard was the ball landing in the cup and hitting the pin. Once we drove up and found it in the hole, the celebration started, what a great feeling for a father/son moment!
