The Brainerd Blast

On Wednesday's during the summer several of us leave work and play nine at a local City course here in Chattanooga called Brainerd Golf Course. This old Donald Ross design is fun and convenient and the people there are always friendly. The 17th at Brainerd is listed at 153 yards from the men's tees. On June 27th, 2017 it was playing about 147. All golfers dream about hole's in one but that's not what I was thinking about as I teed the ball, I just wanted to make a good swing. The second the ball came off the club I knew it was going to be good. In fact I stepped back to admire it and said out loud, "that's a good shot". I was right. The ball landed short of the pin, bounced once and began to roll towards the hole. Suddenly it disappeared! All of us started high fiving one another, laughing and just enjoying that moment. It was a great feeling of accomplishment and joy! My partners, Steve Harper, Nathan Stokes and Richie Nichols helped make it a great afternoon. Just what golf is meant to be.
