So I almost didn't even go out to the golf course the day I had my ace. It was my golf league night, and I was fighting a cold all day long. I almost didn't even play. My work schedule had me off that morning, so I was able to get in 18 holes with my friend before I headed in for my afternoon calendar. As I was going to work, I thought about finding a sub for me, since I already played, and still wasn't feeling great, but when I got to work I saw that a few other regulars were calling for subs and having no luck. I figured I would head out there and just try and soldier through another nine and then put myself to bed. It turned out that my body aches slowed down my swing a bit, and everything was right down the middle. I started out with a birdie, and by the sixth hole had won my match. We came to the 8th hole, which is a 177 yard par three. It has water on the left, a stand of trees on the right, and two traps that guard the right and left front of the green. The pin was right smack dab in the middle of the green. Using a 4 hybrid, I teed down my Pro V1, and I hit a nice draw that bounced twice and rolled into the cup. I had 11 witnesses, the 4 guys from my league who just vacated the green, the other three guys in my group, and the foursome behind us who were on an elevated green looking at my tee shot. A few years ago, our league added a hole-in-one fund, and I won $405.00 for that shot. The hardest thing to do was to concentrate enough to hit a tee shot on the next hole.
