Short but Sweet

I hit my first hole-in-one June 18, 2018, playing in a charity scramble with a friend and two guys I had just met. It was at lucky hole 13 at Sunset Country Club in St. Louis. I had not played our first hole (number 12) particularly well having lost my approach shot out of bounds because of a bit of a slice. Playing ready golf, I was the first to step up to the number 13 tee looking at a distance to the pin of about 120 yards over water all the way to the green. I used an 8 iron aiming for the center of the green with the pin in the back right corner. I hit a solid shot that faded a bit as it came down and then rolled toward the pin. I couldn't see it rolling because it was hidden by a ridge in front of the green but one of my new found friends said he thought it might have gone in. He had seen the pin move but couldn't see the ball after that. We were in suspense until I walked out on the green and found my ball resting comfortably at the bottom of the cup. It's fun to get a hole-in-one but especially so when you're playing in a tournament and a lot of people are celebrating with you and giving their congratulations. Unfortunately, there was no hole-in-one prize on that hole but I did win a nice 52 degree wedge for closest to the pin. Also unfortunately, we weren't playing the skins game. Can't have it all.
