Pink Shorts

The date was October 7th, 2007. I was in high school at the time (Junior Year) and I wanted to go play golf at my local golf club (Schaumburg Golf Club) with my Father. He said only nine holes because he had yard work to do that day. We went and played one of their nine hole courses because it's a 27-hole course. We came up to the third hole. a 120 yard tricky par three because the pin placement at the time was at the end of a hill and if you aimed at or short of the pin, it rolled off into the rough. The trick was to take an extra club and just make it a casual swing. So I did. I took a 9-Iron versus a Pitching Wedge. I went up to hit. The ball line was right at the pin. "Oh, it's right at it!," my Dad says. The ball hits over 15 feet of the pin. Then it trickles down, down, down and then... "OH MY GOD! IT WENT IN!" my Dad shouts. Just like that, my first hole-in-one. I rose my hands up and screamed in excitement as when your favorite team gets a goal, home run, a point, etc. After leaving the tee box, I just couldn't stop smiling all the way to the flag pin and hole. I went up to the hole, pick it up and placed it in my bag and got a new ball for the rest of the round. Afterwards, we went into the club house and made the announcement and one of the teaching pros help to make a scorecard in nice writing to help frame it for keepsake. A few months later, my dad ordered a special plaque for me to mount the ball and tee plate on the wall. I'll never forget that day. I'll also never forget that day because I wore pink shorts on that round. I took some heat from my Dad and my friends for owning them.
