This is my long drawn out Hole In One Story,
I was on my Annual Golf Trip with 23 others. The trip is made up of close friends and friends from our Thursday Night Golf League. The trip started approximately 18 years ago with 16 friends, many that had just started playing golf. We have had great times, great stories and we've lost dozens of golf balls. The number of guys has increased now to 24, the golf equipment we use is much more expensive now and the number of balls lost has pretty much stayed the same. In the 18 years of this trip, no one has dropped a Hole In One. This year we pretty much thought this trip was going to be a complete wash out, Literally, as the weather reports basically stated that we should pack our bags and head home. Being the die hards we've become and also the fact that us married guys didn't want to go back and buy new towels at Bed Bath and Beyond with our wives, we decided to give it a chance. Besides we have about 3,600.00 dollars in Rain Gear between us. So we played on Friday 18 holes with a little rain. Saturday 36 holes, Sunday 36 holes, Beautiful Weather, Who Knew.
Anyway, Saturday Morning it was our first of two rounds that day, I stepped up to the 5th Hole Tee Box at the Owl's Nest Golf Club in Campton NH. A tee box that has more than a few times lead to disappointment for me in the way of a shank, pull, slice or duff on this 160 Yard Par 3. This day it all went right. I hit a sweet little 6 Iron high up in the air, a nice golf shot, not off a rock or a worm burner, at the hole, one bounce, little juice back, right in the cup. I saw the group in front of us getting excited and one of the guys pointing toward the ground indicating it was in the cup. Pretty Exciting. Just like that a 20 year dream of getting my first hole in one was complete. Special Thanks to the Team at Titleist for developing the only ball I'll ever use. The Titleist Pro V1. Thank you, Rick Riccitelli, Coventry, RI.
