One shot. Two memories.

My first hole in one was on the last nine of a 27 hole day. I was hitting the ball well for me - 2 over on my last six holes at Lake Hills Golf Club. I made a nice putt on hole 10 to save bogey on an otherwise unimpressive display on an easy par 5. We walked up to the 11th tee box. We were almost the only ones on the course. I hit first. 176 out - a great 6 iron distance for me. I hit the ball as purely as possible - a high baby draw. It landed 10 feet in front of the hole, bounced twice, rolled, and disappeared. It was tracking perfectly the whole way, but it never occurred to me it would go in. My friend said, "Oh my god, did that just go in the hole?" I said I didn't know but I didn't see the ball. My friend grabbed his range finder to get a closer look and he said, "Dude, you just got a hole in one!" I grabbed it from to him to see for myself. I scanned up and down, and back and forth over the green and around the pin - no ball. I screamed for joy and we all went wild. After my two best friends hit, we drove up to the green and there the ball was sitting perfectly at the bottom of the cup. We took pictures and took in the experience as it was the first hole in one any of us had seen. The only sadness being we passed on grabbing beers for the back nine so we had nothing to cheers. An extraordinary moment I was lucky to share with my best friends. When I got off the course I immediately called my dad who introduced me to the game as a kid 25 years ago. I'd never heard him so excited. That call was the second memory that day I'll never forget. While it may have been the best shot of my life, the softness of the Pro V1 surely helped guide the ball to the hole. Thanks for the assist, Titleist. I owe you a round.
