October Golf in the rain

In October in Rochester NY we are grateful to just be playing golf. As the rain moved in around the start of the back 9 we felt like our time was limited, and our group began talking about ending the round early. On the short par 3 12th we talked about how there hadn't been a hole-in-one at the club in a while, and the "insurance club" to help pay for drinks. Upon hearing you get paid for the unused drink revenue I joked "maybe I should start trying to get a hole-in-one!". After the 15th hole 2 members of our foursome succumbed to the rain and headed in. On the 16th hole my wedge from the rough was staring down the flag, and clanked off the stick about 2" above the ground almost flying directly into the cup. My playing partner and I laugh about the rarity of that happening and how glad we are we played on. After making par on 17 we reach the par 3 18th. Uphill, cold, and misting rain makes us question our club selection. I choose my usual PW for the 139 yd distance, and hit my shot towards the right-center of the green. It draws in slightly, bounces, and disappears out of sight, which is not uncommon for this uphill par 3 with a slight valley towards the middle of the green. Upon walking up and not seeing any shiny urethane on the surface we began to wonder if we just witnessed something special. I ran towards the cup to check, and sure enough, my Titleist was smiling back at me. I'm truly grateful and blessed to have accomplished this rare task, and thank Titleist for producing the ball I trust, and the only ball I'll play. I will proudly display this and share the story for as long as I possibly can.
