On 31 December 2013, I experienced my first hole in one. Playing at Dogwood Trace in Petersburg VA with Marion Hairfield and Kenny Smith. Conditions were wet with a 15mph wind in your face. Hole number 16 is a par 3 measuring 134 yards I used an 8 iron. The sun was slightly facing us, so I didn't see the ball on the green from the tee box, so I figured it went off the back. When we got to the green I saw a sweet fresh divot about 4 inches past the hole. I asked Marion to check it out and yes "In the Hole". I forgot to holler, just raised my hands. Thank you for spin Titlist Pro V1 and Cally irons. I felt bad; Marion made a great putt for a birdie 2. Kenny Smith made an assist with the Jack Daniels Honey. Ummm good.
It's cool to get a hole in one, but even a better experience with two great friends like Kenny and Marion.
Now back to earth, prior to this on hole number 9, another par 3, I promptly put a one hit wonder in the water from the tee.
