Never thought I'd get one

I have been playing serious golf for about 15 years. I am not the kind of person who gets lucky, so was I surprised when I got a hole-in-one on Saturday. I was a bit frazzled because I went straight to the golf course from a rousing game of Pickleball. Even considered not golfing that day. On the fourth of at Warm Springs in Boise Idaho, I caught up with my three friends after running into the clubhouse for something. They'd already teed off and there were three balls in pretty good shape on or near the green. #4 is a short par 3 with water to the left and bunkers on either side of the green. We always just hope not to be in a hazard. The tee box was forward and the pin was near the front, so it was a shorter hole than usual, about 110 yards to the middle, so about a 100 yard shot to the hole. I would normally use a pitching wedge, but the hole plays a bit long, so I used my nine iron. As I was teeing the ball, my friends were heckling me to "just put it in" and "just sink that puppy". I rolled my eyes and may have said something like, that's never going to happen. I hit the ball cleanly. It bounced once in front of the green and was going at a pretty good clip towards the hole. I figured it would blow right by, when suddenly I heard the distinct sound a ball makes when it hits the pin, and the ball disappeared. It was a Titleist Velocity and I will have it until the day I die. Thanks, Titleist, for a moment I never thought I'd have.
