My first hole-in-one came in Lagos, Nigeria at the Ikoyi Country Club in January, 1978. Just as a point of interest, they had sand "browns" on the course. I used a 7-iron on the 17th hole, 168 yards. We had caddies back then. They would move up after we selected our club to watch the shots. The hole was over a bit of a rise, so we couldn't see the ball land. The caddies came screaming back toward the tee box after I hit my shot. Needless to say, I had to buy a round for the entire club house. I had my second hole-in-one on August 8th, 2018. It was at a course I've been playing for 27 years - Hillcrest in Findlay, Ohio. It was also a 7 iron, but on a hole measuring 115 yards, but playing longer. The shot covered the flag the entire way, skipped forward and ran into the hole.
