My Hole In One - Bill Alwardt
By William A On 29 November 2015
November 28, 2015...I was playing Legend Oaks Golf Course, my home course in Summerville, SC. I was playing the Blue Tees with a rating of 70 and slope of 127 and was playing well, only 1 over par when I made the turn, out at 37.
I made a par on the 10th hole and then came up t the 11th hole. A 169 yard par 3. The flag was in the front center part of the green, playing about 153 yards. I hit an 8 iron dead at the flag, my ProV1 landed about 10 feet in front of the flag, a little to the right, hopped once..checked and rolled a little left and dropped into the cup. My very first Hole In One. At 50 years old, it took me a solid 25 years of playing to finally achieve this goal. After the HIO, I proceeded to bogey the next 3 holes as I could not get my emotions under control. After 2 solid pars on holes 15 and 16, I was able to finish off my round Birdie/Birdie to come in at 1 under par, in at 35, to also shoot my lowest round of even par 72 at my home course.
