I have been playing golf for 61 years and today I got my first hole-in-one. Playing on the 13th Hole at Newport Country Club in Newport, Vermont; my 89 year old playing partner hit his drive to within 15 feet of the pin. I said that I'm going to hit it inside of that. My ball landed about 10 feet in front of and to the right of the hole. I was worried that it would run off the green but it rolled into the middle of the pin and dropped straight into the hole. My 89 year old partner couldn't see that far to see it drop, but the 85 year old, 3rd member of the threesome, and I both saw it drop. To say I was excited is an understatement. This is the 25th hole-in-one that I have witnessed in my 61 years on the course. Hopefully, the next one won't take 61 more years.
