My 1st Ace

I took a lesson in March and was given some simple adjustments that I had been trying to work into my swing without reverting the old swing. I was out with a 4 some I have played with many times. The first hole I played well and came out with a bogey. I walked onto the tee box of #2 to get a yardage. The card reads 155 yards from the white tees, but this day the pin was 139 yards. This hole is over water with a large bunker in front of the green. The pin was tucked behind the bunker, blind from the tee box, with only the top half of the flag stick showing. I used my yardage app to measure the distance to carry the bunker, 125-129 yards should do it, I grabbed my 9 iron and teed up. I teed up my orange high viz Velocity and got a few comments about my "clown ball", usual ribbing from the guys I golf with. I remembered what the instructor had told me, as I try to do every shot, focused on those fundamentals, and let it rip. I hit the ball and it felt great off of the club face, the ball jumped off the club and high in the air, dead straight at the stick. I encouraged the ball to "get up" "get up" to carry the bunker, it did. The ball carried the bunker and I didn't see the ball run through the green so I thought it had land in the rough between the bunker and green. My cart mate was determined it went in the hole. I have had many shots that I thought went in and didn't so I didn't share his optimism. We got into carts and drove up to see the result. As we pulled up to park I didn't see the orange ball in the sand, phew, I didn't see it in the rough, and it hadn't rolled through the green. I did see a 1 inch divot between the bunker and the flag stick. Our group was the 3 group out that morning so I knew the divot wasn't from the groups before us, that was my divot, and that ball MIGHT be in the HOLE!! I walked up to the flag and as I approached I could see the orange from the high viz ball reflecting off of the white cup!!! It's in the hole !!! My 1st Ace!!
