Friday the 13th, with a full moon that night. I was looking forward to the Chamber of Commerce golf tournament at Glen Arbour Golf Course in Halifax, but was not expecting a great golfing day. At least it was a scramble.
We tee'd off on #9, and by the time we finished #12 we were -4. Great start, and the boys were in a good mood!
#13 is a par 3, playing 160 yards that day. We were greeted on the tee by a couple of folks from TD Meloche Monnex, who were sponsoring a hole-in-one contest at that hole, along with the official tournament photographer, who took the obligatory team picture.
After trying to make a putt with drunk goggles on to try to win a prize from TD (I lipped out) we were set to hit.
I hit 2nd, after Dean hit the left side of the green. A comfortable Titliest 7 iron, the shot went straight off the club (nice picture by the photographer) and was tracking the stick the whole way. The ball hit the green and rolled towards the cup and then disappeared. Everyone started yelling, but I thought it rolled past the hole.
The woman from TD ran down to the green in her flip flops, looked in the hole and started screaming. Photographer (Jeff Quigley) gets a great shot of her jumping up and down by the stick and then gets a great shot (attached) of the celebration!
Friday the 13th (June), on the 13th hole, at 13:15 (1:15pm) in the afternoon of a full moon! $10,000 prize, a great story, and priceless pictures!
Thanks to a lot of luck, a bit of skill, my Titliest irons, Jeff Quigley (photographer),my teammates (Dean, Richard and Michael) and TD Meloche Monnex it will be a day I will never forget!
