During the second round of qualifying for our League Championship at Montauk Downs State Park, my group came to #12, the signature hole. From the Blue tees, it was 197 yards, and playing into a typical 15 mph headwind. I had bought a 915 5 wood two weeks earlier and was very pleased with it but had to add +.75 of loft because I was hitting it as far as my 910 3 wood.
In my group was Dan Cruz who had aced the same hole 4 weeks earlier from the shorter white tees. I said "Anywhere on the green is good." He said "How about in the hole?" "Anywhere on the green" I replied. It looked like a good shot but maybe short. Because of the angle of the sun, we couldn't see the ball land. I checked the front bunker and was heading for the swale in back when Dan looked in the hole and there was my ball! I had a good round going anyway but the ace helped me go from 7th seed to 2nd going into match play next week.

Btw- my bar tab for the League was over $200 but I also won the hole in won pool-$1,000. A great day!
