It was the last event of the season, named after the greens superintendent, with extreme pin positions. This one was located on a slope that prevented the ball from stopping near the hole; instead settling no closer than maybe 8-10' away. I hit what looked to be just an average shot, but because it had a somewhat low trajectory, it rolled out across the side hill slope, moved right to left about 10' then disappeared. I jokingly told my partners, "Hey, I just scored an ace in case anyone is interested", not really believing it myself. I thought it had just rolled over the peak of the slope. When we arrived at the green I proceeded to mark "my" ball, then pick it up to clean it. Upon noticing that the ball wasn't mine, I walked to the back of the green to look over the edge, but there was no ball. Only then did I realize that the only possibility that remained was my first ace!
