Jack and Jill Hole in One

We were struggling for points in the La Paloma annual Jack and Jill Tournament. Two team members hit shots wide to the left on the par 3 Hill 8 hole. My turn to contribute as I hadn't done much all day. The hole was tucked in the far right corner of the difficult Nicklaus designed green with two menacing bunkers in front of the green. I chose a 9-iron to clear the bunkers, expecting it to carry the full 128 yds to the left side of the hole. Miracles of miracles the ball flight was on the line I chose. It hit the up-slope of a ridge in the green and bounced to the upper sloping tier. To our surprise the ball began to leak down towards the pin some 10-12 ft away. It never sped up as it trickled down towards the pin and then disappeared from sight. A truly remarkable view that will be on my mind for a long time.
