Hybrid to the Rescue and 46 years.

The 14th hole at the Twin Bridges Golf Course in California, KY is currently undergoing improvements to the tee. The Gold tees ( normally 140 yards) were moved back to the new tee location along with the Black tees (now at 167 yards). The green at the 14th is a long oval about 60 feet below the tee. The entire green also has one of the steepest grades on the course. Everything, uphill and to the left. Now at 62, I don't hit 'em like I used to. So I used a #4 hybrid that I choke up a little on. It's one of my most consistent clubs. The flag was in the center of the green that day and the ball landed close but to the right of center, rolled uphill and off into the fringe. Turned left due to the steep grade and started to roll slowly back towards the flag. I was yelling at the ball to keep going thinking a birdie would be nice on this hole. Next to hit was Randy Spangler, he was standing right next to me, also watching the ball as it kept rolling until it disappeared behind the flag stick. If you haven't had one yet..... it was a good feeling. Two high 5s were in order. I then had to call my wife and tell her the good news. It took 46 years to do that. It was worth the wait.
