Hole in One was no joke!

On July 9, 2015 my friend and I decided to play some night golf at our local Par 3 course. Night golf is a great option for us since we can get in some fun any day after work and since it's only a par 3, we can usually get through 18 holes within a couple hours. On the 6th hole, (82 yards and the shortest hole on the course) my friend playfully said, "ok let's go, get a hole in one" as he often does on many par 3's. I laughed and shrugged saying, "I'm happy just to get it on the green". In my mind I was really hoping to just get it somewhere close because I had been struggling with my 50-90 yard shots and seemed to always duff it short or take too full of a swing and land it 20 yards past. So I dropped my Pro V1X #4 ball on the tee box and got a grip on my 58 wedge. The lighting here isn't great and we can pretty much see the tee box, part of the fairway, and then the hole. I take a swing and right away cringe as I see the ball fly out. Again, I've nervously sped up my tempo and hit the ball a little faster than I'd like to! I'm thinking, shoot, this is gonna be long. The ball flies towards the flag, but slightly off to the right. Sure enough, we see a white dot appear on the green maybe a foot to the right of the flag. Immediately my friend comments, "nice shot" and moves to take his place on the tee box. I drop my head and comment that "I think it went too far, maybe it rolled off the green." I look up again and can't see the ball so I begin thinking about how I need to really get my wedges dialed in because these in between yardages are killing me. My friend proceeds to push his ball some 15 feet right of the green into the thick rough. We both make the walk to go find our balls and try to save par. As I get closer to the flag I realize that my ball definitely isn't on the green and grumble about having to search the rough behind the hole with my phone's flashlight. After a minute of searching, I start to panic. I'm thinking, I know I didn't just lose a new ball before even making the turn! I mean, I hit it pretty straight! Disregarding common sense I head back towards the front of the green searching right and left of the hole thinking maybe It was short and not long (my eyes really aren't getting any better these days). Almost just for kicks I frantically decide to check the hole and wow! There's a ball in there. Right away I look over to my friend who has been waiting to hit his chip out of the rough and yell at him asking, "Hey, did you move my ball!?!". "No" he replied, "Why?". I had to ask him again saying, "Seriously, did you move my ball when I was looking behind the green?". Now excited, he starts to walk over and say, "You didn't hit it in did you?". I bend down to the hole and there it is, Titleist #4 with 3 black dots below the 4! Now all the emotion hits me and I can't help but shout and put on a huge stupid grin. "It's in the hole man, look, #4 V1X with my three dots!" Best feeling in the world!
