Hole-in-one on my 6 year Anniversary
By MBenedict On 8 August 2016
Playing in my Member/Member tournament at Red Tail Golf Club's signature #5th Hole In Avon, Ohio I aced it from a 173 yards into a brisk wind. The hole has a large lake from the tee box to the green following it all the way down the left side of the green w a rock retention wall on the front and left sides of the green with bunkers surround the other 2 sides. With the brisk wind I just knew my 185 yard stick wasn't enough to get there and wasn't going to be short with the large lake so I pulled out my 200 stick, which I knew was too much, so I choked it a half inch and purred it...the ball never left the stick, I held my pose as it landed 3 feet short bounced one...checked and rolled right into the middle of the hole. I yelled like a little kid "I jarred it" chest bumped my partner, hugged the other 2 guys in my group - proceeded to do a summer salt on the tee box and even thought about jumping in the lake! This was a Stableford event, so I just assumed an eagle was 5 points, but looked at the scoring sheet and a hole-in-one was 10 points. My partner and I proceeded to win our flight by 1 point and made the shoot-out. I was feeling a tad guilty about playing on my Anniversary, but not after that. That was my 3rd hole-in-one in in my 31 year golf career and each one has been special in its own way!
