Hole-in-one after 60 years of golf

I have been playing golf since age 12 on a regular basis and am currently a 9 handicap. I had never had a hole-in-one despite nearly 60 YEARS of golf. The date was December 12, 2016, which was my daughter's birthday. The event was the "Hackers and Duffers" tournament at the La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc, California. The course is the most challenging in my area, but fortunately we got to play the front tees. The hole was number 9, a 165 yard par 3 with an elevated tee. I used a 6 iron. My ProV1 ball hit 3 feet in front of the cup and went into the hole on first bounce!! I couldn't tell if it went in at first, but my fellow competitors sure did. I have been playing golf since age 12, and waited 60 years for this first hole-in-one. It was truly a delight to buy drinks for all in the tournament. I do not plan to wait another 60 years. Never give up, it will happen to you someday. Steve Pontius
