Hole in one
By Jeff D On 5 September 2018
I got my 1st ever hole in one last week during my Tuesday night league. I was running late and arrived at 5:03pm for our 5:04 tee time. The team behind us was already on the tee, so I had a few minutes to warm up and stretch. Good thing, because what happened next may not have happened had I had to hit right when I got here. It was on hole 1 , a 170 yard downhill shot, facing north. There was a strong wind in my face,so I switched clubs. I hit a low 6iron. There were 4 of us on the tee. Another 4 guys had just finished on he green. And another 12 or so guys from our league hanging around behind the 1st tee, waiting for their tee times. I hit it well, and knew it was heading in the right direction. I did not see it come down though. Sadly enough, neither did the other dozen plus players around at the time. My golf partner Scott said he thought it came down a little short. The pin was up front, so I would have been happy if it was a little short. As we came down the hill, I was looking in front of the green, because Scott’s eyes are usually right on. Neither of us saw my ball in front of he green, so I said I would see if it rolled right thru. Scott jokingly said he would go check the hole. I thought he was messing with me when he said it was in there,, Hole in One!!! I didn’t fully believe him until he tossed me a pro v1x, with my green sharpie written initials on it!! How many times have we joked “ I will check in he hole”? Welll this time it was there.
