Hole in One
By Stephen H On 13 August 2018
It was a normal Friday round at Sugar Creek Country Club with my good friend Alex. On the 4th hole Alex said it measured 157 yards with his range finder with about a one club wind in our face. I choose my 5 iron since we had to carry over water to the green and if I hit it a bit fat I knew I would still carry the water. I hit a clean shot, tracking a little bit right to left (I am left handed). Alex mentioned while the ball was in the air "nice ball" and I was thinking it was a good shot but a bit short (flag was in the back). The ball took one bounce then disappeared. I turned around real fast and looked at Alex and said "the ball just disappeared. Alex stuttered with excitement and said "holy cow (not his exact word) you just hit a hole in one." I lost track of the next 10-15 seconds in dis-belief. Then all of a sudden two ladies sitting on the back porch of a house about mid-way down started to clap. They said "great shot, we are just having some wine and watching golfers, that was a perfect shot." Driving up to the hole I kept looking for my ball, still in dis-belief. Not until I actually saw it in the hole did I actually believe I hit a hole in one. Alex got the green side reaction and me picking the ball out of the hole on video. What a great day. Forever I will hit my 5 iron on that hole no matter the wind or location of the pin...
