Hole in One

Back in October 2013, I was driving to a client meeting when they cancelled at the last minute. I then received a call from a friend of mine who happened to be playing play with 2 of his clients at Stevens Park here in Dallas seeing if I could play. Luckily, I had my clubs in the trunk, and arrived as they were teeing off. Surpisingly, I was even through 6 when we came to #7 which is a par 3 playing 169 from the back tees with the pin tucked in the back center. What makes this hole unique is the framing of the hole. There’s a residential street on the left of the box with a busy road and 3 way light behind the tee box. It feels like you’re teeing off from the intersection. At the back of the hole, there’s a pond and another residential road through a stone bridge which gives the appearance of being immediately behind the hole. I was last to hit, and went with a choked up 6 iron into a 1 club wind. As soon as I hit it, I thought it was way too much club. But my friends, who were down the tee box watching were yelling for it to go in. It hit 12” in front and went straight into the hole. The light at the interestion was red so people were yelling if it went in and then began honking and yelling! But because I was supposed to be “in a meeting” I told everyone we couldn’t report it to the course. We were officially on double super secret probation when discussing the situation. I still bought a ton of drinks though! ProV1 with one red dot!
