Ho1e in One

After not playing such a hot round at Mayfair Country Club in Sanford, Florida, I stepped up to one of our final holes. Hole 16. Par 3. 157 yards. The pin was relatively centered on the green with a slight slope left-to-right. I felt more accurate with my 8 iron, as opposed to my 9 iron that I was contemplating on hitting, so I decided to grab my 8 iron and choke down a bit and not do such a full swing. With this thinking, I figured I'd also be a little more in control of my swing. At the tee box, with some of my best friends watching behind me, I hit my relatively fresh Titleist Pro V1. Coming off a little left of the flag, it started to fade and track right to the hole. The ball landed on the front of the green, bounced twice, and checked up nicely on the second bounce. As it started to decrease speed, the ball rolled with the left-to-right slope right at the hole. BUT IT DIDN'T GO IN AT FIRST COMPLETELY. The ball got caught by the flag leaning one way, so it was stuck half way into the hole. My friends are jumping up, chest bumping, and screaming and celebrating while watching to see if it fall. The wind picked up a bit, and leaned the flag the opposite way and we watched the ball finally sink in the hole. The people on the green, on the hole behind us, saw it all happen and were screaming too, and drove their carts over to us to celebrate. It was quite the start to 2019's Memorial Day Weekend. On a side note, Mayfair Country Club has a par 3 that we played earlier in the round, where if you make a hole in one you win $1,000! Unfortunately, I didn't win the $1,000 because it wasn't that exact hole, but scoring a hole in one was more than enough. What an experience.
