Golf With My Dad

My 87 year old father and nephew play each Sunday at Deer Valley Golf Course in Big Rock IL. It was a nice Sunday morning for golf. We were not pushing anyone nor was anyone pushing us. We all had good holes, and we all had holes which "bit" us. We got up o hole number 9 and I happened to be the second one up, my nephew hit first. He his a wedge on the 143 yard 9th hole and came up way short. The green is a tow tiered green. If the pin is back, I typically hit an 8 iron. If it is front I typically hit a 9 iron. I was trying to make the decision on whether to hit the 8 or 9, based on a little breeze which was is our face. When my nephew came up so short, I decided to hit the 8. I hit my ball and it had a slight fade on it, but it was tracking real nice. It his about 6 feet to the left and just past the hole. It took one bounce on the up slope, bit and began coming down the slope and moving right. We watched as it rolled toward the hole and then all of the sudden it diapered! I immediately yelled it went in, and started high five-ing my nephew and dad. I looked back and the hole to make sure it went in and we could not see the ball. It was the first Hole-in-one any of us had seen in live play. My Dad hit one during some practice shots, but not in a regular round. It was quite exciting and I couldn't have asked for more than to share it with my Dad and nephew.
