First one at an historic course
By Jake J On 21 June 2018
First round of the year. On the range, someone was sharing a hole in one story and I thought to myself, “it seems like everyone I know has a hole in one, and I’ve played longer than they have, and at a higher level... will I ever get one?!” I walk up to the tee, no. 5 at Philadelphia Cricket Club, after 4 consecutive up and down pars with no putts more than a foot on some treacherous greens. I get yardage, 168 to the pin, a hole that happens to be cut 5 paces off the left edge of a sharply sloping green from left to right and guarded by a big bunker short and left. So, naturally like the idiot that I am, I go right after it. I hit a 2 yard cut 7 iron to take some distance off, just like I drew it up... for once!. It hits the green, catches the ridge and rides it about 12 feet straight into the cup. I couldn’t believe it. No putt this hole!
