Finally, my first hole-in-one after 40+ years of avid golf and numerous “near misses.” Statesville Country Club, Statesville, NC, Thursday, July 5th. Hole 12, Par 3, 127 yds., slight uphill. Hit an easy 8 iron and my Titleist Tour Soft landed one foot short of pin, taking one small bounce into the cup. I knew it was a good shot & close. I reached down to pick up my tee, and told my son that it should be a good one. The undulation of the green kept me from seeing it go in, but my son said I’m excited fashion, “ It went in....hole in one!” We drove to the green and there it was....hiding in the hole. What a memory!
