First Fathers Day, First Hole in One
By Titleist U On 21 June 2018
At the time I'd been playing golf for roughly 25 years, I've had a few close calls but hadn't been able to enjoy the experience of making a 1 on a golf course. The date was June 19th, 2016. It also happened to be my first fathers day as a dad. My wife gifted me the morning off from parenting and I went golfing at Cyprian Keyes in Boylston, MA with my brother and another buddy. I played a disappointing front nine, stepped up to the tee on the 11th hole, which is a 185 yard, par 3. The hole is uphill and it was fairly windy as well which forced me to club up to my 3H. I hit a ProV1x that moved about 15 yards from right to left, the ball landed on a large green and continued to roll towards the pin which happened to be placed on the left side that day. I didn't think much of the shot when I hit it but it kept getting better and better until it seemed to disappear. The trajectory was kind of awkward and because the hole was uphill, it was difficult to tell if it went long. The guys in my group were pretty excited and thought it was in but the last thing I wanted to do was celebrate a shot that might have gone 10 yards over the green while standing on the tee box. I got up to the green and didn't see anything, walked over to the hole and it was sitting there. An incredible memory for me that will surely last a lifetime. When I got home, I was sure to thank my wife and give my 2 month old son and extra hug and kiss.
