First ever Hole In One, at the Brickyard
By Troy C On 15 August 2017
I was playing at the Brickyard with my Uncle Tom Perry) who happens to be a superb golfer and once qualified and played in the US Senior Open, when we got to the 7th tee. Also with us was my best friend, Trent Bradburn. We hadn't played this course before and my uncle explained the layout. He hit first and hit a great shot toward a pin that was hidden in the back left corner of the green behind a mounded center of the surface. I followed him with a crisp 5 iron shot of my own. From our standpoint, we we could not see where either of our balls settled. Once we reached the green and walked up onto the face, we could only see one ball sitting safely on, lying about 5 ft from the pin. My uncle exclaimed "Uh-Oh!" as he walked towards the pin. Initially, we did not know whose ball was on the green and where the other ball finished up. As I walked by the ball sitting on the green, I could see a "cross" marked on it, which is the insignia my uncle marks his ball with. My heart rate began to race as I knew my ball either went in or rolled off the green. My uncle walked towards the pin first, and and as he peered down inside the hole, he immediately looked up at me and was grinning from ear to ear. He looked over at the foursome nearby heading to the 8th tee, who happened to be other club members he knew, and he yelled over to them "HOLE IN ONE!!". It was my first ever Ace and I was especially proud to have achieved it at a championship course alongside 2 of my favorite golfers.
