Apple Valley Golf Course at Rumbling Bald located in Lake Lure, NC. Fall season November 2, 2020 leaves had changed colors. Surrounded by the Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Like a scene out a movie. In fact Dirty Dancing was filmed here. Crisp light wind in my face. I stepped up to the #14 par 3. Tee box elevated above the green with a revine in between. Distance was 148 yrds. Had a PW in hand buDidn’t feel confident with the swirling wind. I Returned to my bag for a 9 Iron. I had the box so was first to play. Teed up my Titleist ProV1. Began my swing and flushed the shot. Felt like butter. Ball stayed straight nuts at the flag. At some point I heard by buddy say “dang GO in the hole!”. Landed 3 ft behind the pin and began to spin back. At that point it seemed like slow motion. And then the ball disappeared in the hole. My heart started pounding. I have been so close in my life but never made one. 20 years of rounds. I was shocked. My boy’s were pumped!! I felt like I was on Mt. Rushmore!! The year 2020 had been a rough year for many, including myself. But this was a win I will never forget. Thank you golf gods.
