Finally

I've been playing golf since I was 6. Childhood lessons, high school golf team, plenty of rounds in college, scrambles, golf trips, etc... I've played plenty of rounds in the 90s, I've been a single digit handicap for a summer at my peak and I've broken 80 a handful of times. I won't ever break par and I've made peace with that, so my last realistic goal was a HI1.
A few buddies and I play in a Wednesday night 9 hole league. We usually get in 18 and we usually put down 24. 2 weeks ago I stepped up to the par 3 3rd at River Glen in Fishers Indiana. The hole I've played 50 or so times waa playing a little longer than usual. As I stepped up to the box and eyed the pin 177 yards away with an 8 iron in my hands. As the wind died down I decided to go back to the bag and grab the 7. Good call.
The ball never left the pin. I could barely hear my playing partners telling me it was in the cup because I was too busy muttering to myself that I overshot the green. The noise I made when I picked the ball out of the cup was 10% embarrassing and 90% cathartic. My fiance and my sister both told me they've never seen me smile that big before.
