Playing Desert Canyon Golf Course in Fountain Hills, Arizona. The morning was a little breezy, and after having doubled the 12th hole, a par 5, I will admit I was a little down on myself for blowing a fairly easy Par 5. The 13th hole on Friday was an uphill Par 3 playing 149 yards and you can't see the green's surface from the White tees. I hit, what I thought, was a solid shot, but it went left. The design of the hole, though, is that if you hit left, the ball could bounce and roll right. When I got up to the hole, I didn't see a ball in the swale left of the green, nothing on the green, so my assumption was that the ball rolled across the green and into the deep bunker guarding the right front. As I went back and got my SW and walking to the bunker, one of my playing partners told me to look in the hole, he saw the ball bounce right off of the hill. I did, and dammed if it wasn't in the hole!! My first hole-in-one! At 70 years old I feel as young as some of the New Breed. I'm looking forward to my second hole-in-one now!
